A number of recent Opinions and Orders in the Western District Court of Michigan have significant consequences for our clients and their efforts to claim the surplus proceeds from the sale of their property at tax foreclosure auction.

While some of the details vary between case to case due to the unique nature of each claim and the procedures of different counties, there is a unifying theme. The counties asked a federal judge to throw these cases out, and in all 24 rulings the answer was the same: the claim that the county kept more than it was owed is going forward.

Whether you are reviewing these rulings as an affected client, or just as an individual concerned about protecting the rights of everyday citizens, we are pleased to share these as proof of the progress that we are making in the slow pursuit of justice.
